This is late, I know, I’m sorry! But it is still February, so therefore this is STILL the February #SneakOfTheMonth, and it’s another goody!
If you follow me on social media you’ll already know all about these kicks before I took them to America with me on the suggestion of Nick from Shelflife, and boy was it a good decision!
These things are crazy waterproof, super warm and had extra for my (recently buggered) ankle. Perfect for hiking etc. in the snow in Colorado earlier this month.
Well, here you go, introducing the:
Nike Lunar Force 1 Duckboot
R2,199
So I got hold of Nick when I knew I was heading to the snowy state of Colorado and the first thing he suggested was the LF1. I didn’t know much about them, so I did some Googling and the first thing I noticed was that they look bloody cool!
So I headed into their Jo’burg store to try and pair on, and decided almost immediately that they were what I needed. They were comfortable with ‘Watershield’, and I thought that by using Crep Protect I’d make them almost invincible. I was right.
Guys, I was up to my shins in snow in the Rocky Mountain National Park. I went hiking up sand dunes in the Great Sand Dunes National Park, and I also suffered through a very rainy New York City. These babies didn’t falter once. I was never uncomfortable, and – more importantly – my feet never got wet.
My Take: 9.5
These are a properly amazing pair of sneakers, honestly. They were everything I was hoping for for my trip, and with the rain we’ve had in Jozi lately, will be perfect for here right now. Yes, they’re super practical, but they look dope too. The only reason they didn’t get 10 is because they’re not *that* versatile in terms of what you can wear them with.
SNEAK FACT!! – The Nike Cortez was originally meant to be called the Aztec, but Adidas blocked the name due to their Azteca Gold line. Nike then decided to name them Cortez after Hernán Cortés – the man who helped conquer the Aztecs.
I thought “Naw, he wouldn’t forget. But it’s ok, he has been travelling.” Dude I was waiting for your review on these Lunar Boots. I got thick problematic ankles and I’m looking for a pair of kicks that can provide that extra support. I will definitely snag myself a pair of LF1’s.
