Once again I’ve left it late to do my #SneakOfTheMonth this month… There is a very good reason though, because the kicks I’ve chosen are actually releasing this week. So the timing is perfect!
I’m also running a #KicksFromCrann giveaway over on my Twitter account where I’ve got R1000 worth of Shelflife vouchers to giveaway, so if you do want to try and land a pair, then you have a chance of me putting some money towards your purchase!
We’re building up to a good time for sneakers now… There’s plenty of stuff in the works that is close to coming out, so I thought it was only fair if I had a chat to the legends over at shelflife.co.za to see what the very freshest pair were going to be. These are what I landed on…
NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas I-5923
R3,799
I mean, where do I even start with these? adidas and NEIGHBORHOOD have been making sweet, sweet music together for over a decade now, and they haven’t failed to impress with their latest offering. The I-5923 sneakers are not just dope on their own, but there are two – yes, TWO – matching jackets for the olive colourway.
First up you’ve got the fleece hoodie that goes hand in hand with the sneaker, and given the fact that South Africa has been bloody freezing lately, this one is certainly a practical shout… Plus it looks great.
Then secondly you’ve got the track top which – as a football fan – is probably more my scene. It’s looks like the typical adidas Originals casual, and I’m a lover of that style. That being said, I really like both and would happily add them to my closet!
I mentioned being a football fan before, and this collection is all about terrace culture. It’s a big thing in Japan and these sneakers that I’ve picked aren’t the only ones that NEIGHBORHOOD and adi have collaborated on. They’re just my personal favourites. You can check out the others HERE.
My Take: 8.5/10
Honestly, as soon as these launch later this week I fully intend on going and nabbing myself a pair. I’m head to the USA on holiday in October, and I think these will be wicked to walk around in because of their UltraBOOST sole… That and the fact that I’m vain with sneakers and know that I’ll look dope marching around in these babies. Big fan of all things olive – except actual olives.
SNEAK FACT!! – One of the blokes involved in this range is Cali Thornhill DeWitt, the bloke that played a massive role in the creation of Kanye West’s Life of Pablo tour merchandise.
