Shelflife #SneakOfTheMonth – September 2017

So I’m going to be a bit cheeky here, because September’s Shelflife #SneakOfTheMonth is technically two pairs. Well, maybe even four to be honest.

Basically, there’s been a really cool collaboration between two dope brands and they’ve released two pairs of sneakers in two different colours. They dropped at Shelflife this weekend, and they’re hot property.

I’ll get to the point. This month’s #SneakOfTheMonth is:

Mastermind World x adidas Consortium EQT Support
Price: R2,999/R3,499

Shelflife

Mastermind JAPAN was established in 1997 and are widely considered as one of the coolest Japanese brands out there. Mastermind count Karl Lagerfeld on their list of admirers – Not bad right!? – and recently set up Mastermind WORLD – a diffusion line of theirs.

There are two sneakers in their collab with adidas, firstly Ethe QT Support Ultra – a premium leather with mesh upper – and the EQT Support 93/17 – which is a stretch textile and mesh upper. Both have BOOST midsoles.

This range is pretty exclusive and will fly off the shelves, so anybody hoping to get hold of a pair will need to get into Shelflife sharpish in order to add them to your collection. I’m a fan of the blue and white because they’re the colours of Sheffield Wednesday. I’m a sucker like that.

Given my day job, it would be unjust of me not to mention that the black pair are a must have for any Orlando Pirates fans out there. They’re absolutely perfect for Bucs fans with the logo, and if I was a Buccaneer I’d be putting my money where my mouth (or keyboard in this case) is.

My Take: 7.5/10
These babies are cool because they’re different. I also think the logo is dope – who doesn’t like skull and crossbones?! – and it looks really cool on the side. The EQTs in general are probably my favourite adi trainers out at the moment too. Super comfortable.

SNEAK FACT!!! – Adolf “Adi” Dassler, wanted adidas to be called ‘Addas’, but his registration was turned down because of a German children’s shoe company.
