We’re about one third of the way into the 2015/16 Absa Premiership season now, have completed the MTN8 and are into the Telkom Knockout semifinals, yet the top scorers in South Africa have just six goals.
George Lebese, Jeremy Brockie and Nathan Paulse have all managed to grab six goals in all competitions so far, and Kiwi, Brockie, is the only player who has consistently managed to score goals since January (he has 16).
In a bit of a chat with Jeremy recently I challenged him to a bet. I told him that if he got to 20 goals in 2015/16 (all competitions) then I’d take him and his missus out for dinner on me. He agreed, saying that if he didn’t, dinner for me and my girlfriend was on him.
Anyhoo, I’ve been thinking and why should he have all the fun? I’m opening up my offer to ALL of the players playing in the Absa Premiership.
Whichever top-flight player in South Africa manages to hit the 20-goal mark this season (again, all competitions), I will take them out for a slap-up dinner at a restaurant in Jo’burg, as well as a partner of their choice.
It’s a win/win for me, because if somebody does do it, then we finally get the 20-goal striker that South Africa has been crying out for, and if nobody does it, then dinner is on Brocks! 😀
